Grade 8, 9 and 10

Grade 8

The annual grade 8 camp is held in the Stellenbosch valley in the first term. The camp is focused on team building across the grade with students participating in various outdoor activities, including a star-gazing night hike.

Grade 9

Girls' Camp
For many Grade 9 girls, their annual girls' camp is an opportunity to really be themselves with their friends. Run by CHS teachers and hosted in the coastal village of Glencairn, the camp entails a mix of fun activities, stimulating sessions and times of personal reflection, all focused on issues that girls tend to experience in their teenage years. For staff and girls alike, this camp is often the highlight of their year.
Boys' Camp

Early in the Grade 9 year, the boys enjoy an "adventure camp" to the Cederberg mountain range. Camping, hiking, swimming, campfires, star-gazing, motivational talks, activities and momentary reflections, teamwork sessions and debrief discussions, amongst others, all facilitate growing together and uniting as men. Activities and sessions look to address problems and challenges that are typically experienced by boys entering their middle teenage years.

Grade 10

At Claremont High School we value learner development and leadership training.  With this in mind we take all our Grade 10s on an overnight leadership camp to Greyton in the Overberg.

Greyton is a small village at the foot of the Riviersonderend Mountains and is adjacent to the 2 200 hectare Greyton Nature Reserve.  It is just 5km from the historic village of Genadendal, originally a Khoi settlement, but later home to a Moravian Mission Station.

Although this is a leadership camp there is a strong emphasis on outdoor activities.  The area also offers a wide range of exciting learning opportunities for our learners.
