Absent for Assessment

It is Claremont High School’s policy that any pupil who is absent for a scheduled assessment will forfeit the marks for the assessment unless a doctor’s certificate is produced on the first day of return.

If a doctor’s certificate is produced the pupil will be given a mark that is a conservative estimate.

Scheduled assessments are any activities that are scheduled in advance and where marks are recorded. These may include standardised tests, oral presentations, group presentations and the handing in of projects on a due date.

Pupils who are too ill to spend the day at school may choose to come in just to fulfill the requirements for the scheduled assessment during the relevant periods in the course of the day. The pupil may then sign out on completion of the task.
